2008 season

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

This past guiding season was the best to date, not just because of all the fish we caught but all the new friends I made and old ones I got to see again, here are some pictures from this past year, thank you everyone and see you next year.

A Year With Frog and Toad

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

I know this has nothing to do with fishing but, it does have to do with the season. I have found myself getting caught up in the problems of the world and worrying about the future, and have lost focus on the season as well as my family. Last night I saw a play with my family and we laughed and forgot about the world outside.

The actors were incredible, they played their part to a T.  It was amazing the way they portrayed their characters without typical costumes. Their voices made you feel like you were watching a Broadway musical.

They brought their message across with a laugh and a smile. The underlying message was family and friends are most important. I have been blessed to have an incredible wife, two great boys and the support of many friends. I left smiling and feeling a new sense of hope and joy. Just thinking about the play brings a smile to my face!

If you are in the Bangor Maine area and have a chance to see this play, check out

Making a rod: Part 1

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

Even though I have said in the past I have no interest in building a rod,I decided to build a fiberglass rod. It will be a 7′ three weight. Based on recommendation from www.maineflyfish.com forum, I have all the parts to put this together but I was surprised at the cost, a little bit here and a little bit there, adds up. The total for parts were $168 not counting tools needed to build it but a friend will be suppling all that. This is still cheaper than buying one already built. Over the next few weeks I will post pictures of my progress.

A Maine Lodge

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

I have had the opportunity to guide for Weatherby’s and also take my family there. It has become a tradition in the spring for my wife and I to get away  and stay there for the weekend and fish. The food and lodging is top notch. Here is a video they have recently release of some thing you can do in the fall.
