Penobscot River Atlantic Salmon count
Journal Date: September 11th, 2009 | Filed Under: News
As of yesterday, 1,945 salmon have been collected from the adult trap at Veazie. Since my last update, the Penobscot Salmon run has slowed to a crawl. For 19 days, from Aug 12 – 30, no salmon were trapped. During that time, water temperatures averaged 75.4 F and topped out near 80 F. Typical water temperatures for that time of year would be 72.3 F. Over the last 10 days, water temperatures have been seasonal for this time of year (67.5 F). Flows continue to remain slightly above normal based on USGS gage data (USGS 01034500 Penobscot River at West Enfield, Maine).
