Journal Date: March 3rd, 2010 | Filed Under: News

Welcome to the Maine Council-ASF

WE ARE HAVING A SPECIAL ONLINE AUCTION MARCH 1-27, 2010 FOR THE PENOBSCOT RIVER

WHO: The Maine Council of the Atlantic Salmon Federation (MC-ASF), along with assistance from the Penobscot, Veazie and Eddington Salmon Clubs has embarked on a three year campaign to raise $150,000 for the Penobscot River Restoration Project. We are well on our way to reaching the goal.

WHAT: To support the Penobscot River Restoration Project, we are offering a live auction for 5 fabulous items from March 3rd to March March 27th. These items include a one of a kind bamboo salmon rod made by pre-eminent rod maker David Van Burgel. Also check out the Jonathan Larrabee custom Vom Hofe salmon reel and the awesome Hardy Marquis reel. Also featured is a limited edition Tom Hennessey print of a Penobscot Indian birchbark canoe and the new Hydros Orvis rod package.

WHY: Not since the angling community banded together to help defeat the proposed Basin Mills dam in the nineties has the need arisen to undertake such an ambitious fundraising effort. Yet the very future of the clubs existence may well hinge on the success of this project. For MC-ASF and the salmon clubs, the Penobscot Project represents the last, best hope to restore a sizeable run of salmon in Maine.Successfully, implemented the Penobscot Project will remove the two major dams closest to the ocean, bypass a third dam and improve fish passage at remaining dams. For more information on the project go to www.penobscotriver.org

Please bid on the items on the side bar and please pass this along to other folks you think might be interested.
100% of all proceeds will go to remove the dams!!
