West Branch of the Penobscot
Journal Date: September 21st, 2010 | Filed Under: Fishing Reports
Joe and his wife were up from Chicago a few days ago. They were white water rafting the Kennebec River and the West Branch and Joe wanted to try his luck at catching a salmon. So we went out for a half day trip. He had a couple of nice ones on before landing his first one, an eight inch salmon; goal #1 complete. I then set our next goal on a big Maine salmon. He made a lot of casts, so I slid the boat a few feet down river and said, “Sometimes a few feet will make all the difference in the world.” Minutes later, “Fish ON!” He landed this nice 20 inch land lock; goal #2 complete. He had several other hook ups but, never landed another. Fall fishing is here!
