Maine Striper Bass

Trout,salmon and suckers

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

I spent the day guiding Chuck and Justin from Arkansas. Justin is a Smoky Mountains guide and has fished for many different fish. I had some great conversion with them about their fishing trips. They had never caught a land lock salmon and that was their goal. The weather was cloudy, with a light breeze and only 50 degrees out. They managed to get several salmon( one 18 and 16 inches), two brook trout(one 16 inches) and four suckers. Justin also broke off two monster, we wish we could of seen those fish.

As a side note we saw, seven moose, ducks, rabbit, loons, a beaver, king fisher and a fox.

The simple things

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

Sometimes it doesn’t matter the size of the fish but that there are fish. I watched them fish for a while until the black flies got to bad but the excitement they showed for a fish less than four inches long was amazing and they would yell out, “a big one!” and it was only maybe four inches. Sometimes they got distracted by a salamander or frog but they got the job done.

Maine Fishing Report

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

Right now is a great time to be out fishing. I have had some great reports from around the state. Grand lake stream is full of fish, Rangeley region is fishing well with big brook trout be caught daily, Crappie are on the spawn and easy to catch and all the rivers are starting to come down making fishing a lot easier. There are also reports of stripers showing up in southern Maine. The small mouth are starting to get aggressive and will start spawning soon. So get out there have some fun, life is to short.

Larry was up from Florida on business and gave me a call saying he needed a fishing fix. I told him he called the right guy. He did a half day with me, the conditions weren’t the best but he was able to get into some fish, ranging from 12 to 16 inches.

London, May 9 : A 10-year-old girl has broken two fishing records after she reeled in a monster catfish that weighed almost as much as she did.

Natalie Carter, who weighs five-stones, spent 45 gruelling minutes under the baking Thailand sun fighting a giant three-and-a-half stone Redtail catfish before getting it to the bank. read more……..

Florida Keys 2009

Friday, May 8th, 2009

This was an incredible trip! I spent the weekend with my buddy Matt from Florida and Carter from Maine. We had shots at tarpon, bones, spooked a permit, sharks and barracuda. We drank a lot of beers and had a lot of laughs.

I am sorry there isn’t any fish pictures to post or is there, you will have to wait until Grey Ghost Productions next film to see if I actually got skunk or not.

trying to figure out why I fish so much
