The West Branch is located two hours north of Bangor and in the heart of one the most beautiful places in Maine. It is a big and powerful river, with Mount Katahdin at its back drop. The West Branch holds some of the largest wild land lock salmon left in Maine.Typically they are found chasing your big streamer or rising to your dry fly. It is probably the best dry fly fishing Maine has to offer with blue wing olives, stone flies, Hendricksons and caddis hatches from May to September. We float or wade it, using 5 and 6 weight rods. The season starts in May and goes until the end of September.
